Komposter tipe Rotary Kiln adalah media penyimpan dan pengolah adonan berbagai bahan organik dalam proses pembuatan kompos. Adonan itu sendiri berasal dari sampah organik yang telah dikecilkan ukurannya hingga 15 sd 20 mm oleh Mesin Pencacah Organik (MPO).
Sisa sayuran, makanan, daging dan ikan ( food waste) serta material lain dan berasal dari makhluk hidup ( hewan, manusia dan tumbuhan) dengan bantuan bakteri dalam aktivator Green Phoskko® ( GP-1) dan penggembur (bulking agent) Green Phoskko® ( GP-2), dalam komposter tipe Rotary Kiln ini, hanya 5 hari, akan terurai dengan praktis, cepat, higienis kembali ke asalnya, yakni material menyerupai sifat tanah atau disebut kompos.
Fungsi utama Rotary Kiln adalah memberikan dan mengelola kondisi bagi terjadinya dekomposisi oleh jasad renik ( mikroba pengurai dari aktivator). Komposter menjaga suhu, kelembaban dan kadar air, serta menjaga PH bagi berlangsungnya fermentasi oleh mikroba dalam kondisi optimal.
Dengan kondisi yang dibuat oleh alat mesin ini, dekomposisi dalam pembuatan kompos tidak lagi memerlukan lahan luas dan menimbulkan polutan bau sebagaimana teknik bedeng terbuka ( open windrows) seperti di kebun dan perdesaan melainkan menjadi cepat, higienis, bersih, tidak mengganggu lingkungan dengan bau. Kebutuhan lahan lebih sedikit, dibanding memakai cara lama yakni metoda bedeng ( open widrows). Dan, dengan mesin komposter tipe Rotary Kiln, bisa ditampung pupuk organik cair- yang harganya jauh lebih mahal dibanding kompos padat.
