Keingintahuan akan proses penguraian kembali ( daur ulang) material organik menjadi kompos oleh bekerjanya bakteri sahabat manusia (probiotik), karena juga mungkin tugas pelajaran atau keterbatasan alat peraga dekomposisi di sekolah, membuat siswa SMA (4) di Bandung- bergantian per kelompok sejak pagi hingga sore di hr jumat ( 4/06) antusias kunjungi Posko Hijau. Diskusi jadi menarik perhatian, ketika siswa mulai dan ada yang baru sadar akan peranan jasad renik ( bakteri) sungguh besar kepada manusia. Tanpa makhluk itu, tumbuhan dan jasad manusia serta hewan purba sekalipun tidak akan mengurai kembali jadi tanah. Dapat dibayangkan, bagaimana penuhnya bumi ini dihuni oleh jasad yang telah mati dan hidup berdampingan sekaligus.
Dan, memang atas kesadaran itulah pula, di tahun 2004 lalu, kami dan teman2 meneliti dan melakukan uji coba mikrobiologi, yang kemudian melahirkan teknologi percepatan dekomposisi- guna kepentingan mengelola ekosistem yang makin terganggu dan menyimpang karena berkurangnya rasio daya dukung alam dibanding jumlah manusia penghuninya.
Teknologi itu adalah Rotary Klin composting, untuk mempercepat dan mengefisienkan penguraian kembali material oganik oleh konsorsium bakteri, jamur dan ragi- seiring dengan makin banyaknya sampah di bumi. Prinsipnya, guna bekerjanya bakteri secara optimal, disamping keperluan akan jumlah populasi per gram cfu tinggi juga penting pengelolaan ( manipulasi) lingkungan mikro ( kecukupan oksigen/ aerasi, PH, temperatur, kelembaban, ukuran material secara tepat ) – yang bagi tiap jenis bakteri memerlukan kondisi berbeda satu dengan lainnya. Untuk memudahkannya, dibuatlah komposter ( kapasitas kecil bagi ukuran rumah) dan Rotary Kiln ( skala besar lingkungan dan komersial),dengan spesifikasi hasil perhitungan cermat berdasar pemahaman akan karakter aneka jenis bakteri, jamur dan ragi – yang terdapat dalam aktivator Green Phoskko (GP-1).
Karenanya, jika ingin mengurai material organik – membuat kompos – secara sempurna ( cepat, higienis, tidak berbau, tidak menghidupkan hewan kecil dan serangga, hasil pupuk kompos bermutu), diperlukan kesesuaian ( compatible) antara alat ( media komposter) dan jenis bakterinya sebagai satu paket. Tanpa itu, membuat kompos akan kembali seperti jaman dulu- jadul – dan dipersepsikan rumit, menjijikan, waktunya lama, kumuh serta berbau saja, dan membuat kita pasti malas membuat kompos deh !!
